Hello kiddies.
Well, instead of going back through masses of entries, i've decided to just make a new journal. And that, is

catethecute
catethecute
catethecute

So, friend me there, kids and i'll add ya back... or forever be left out.
I'm going to be making my journal friends only in a few days. 95% of my posts are locked for privacy reasons anyhow. There are a lot of people that are on my friends list that I never got around to adding and i'm not sure who all really wants to be added now or what. If you are not on my friends list and would like to be added, please comment, and if I don't really know you, just give me a reason why/how you found my journal. Thanks!

So, as I showed Emma to my friend Kelsey, she goes, "With a name like Emma, you'd think she'd be little and cute, but man, is she a beast!" Yep. A monstrous beast.

Also, watching the video. My lower leg has gone to hell from my reining riding. It's not god awful, but it certainly could be more under my hip. Any good tips at getting it back where it should be? I don't even think about it really when I ride, not to mention Emma's not exactly an eq concentrating ride at the moment. Does bringing your stirrups up help any? I rode at a really nice trainer who rolled my stirrups and at the next show, everyone was like "OMG you're riding good." I dunno. Tips tips tips?

Just because i'm waiting for my tutoring to start...
Ridiculously long horse quiz under cut.
I wouldn't even read it. Unless you want to pass time or really learn about my horse history.

Name: Cate
Age: 20
Years Riding: 12

About Your Horse
(If you don't have a horse of your own, do a favorite school horse!)

I'll go with Ray, since I hate Dallas and don't want to jinx Emma.

Name: Raymond
Show Name:Right AwaY
Color: Chestnut
Breed: Quarter Horse, apparently
Markings: Hind Sock, Blaze
Gender: Gelding
Age: I honestly have no clue, i've never seen his papers. I'm gonna guess 13.

Do You Know How To...

Braid?: Yes, but I don't do it well
Band?: Yeah
Pick out a hoof?: Yes
Muck a stall?: Yes
Sit a trot?: Yes
Post to a trot? Yes
Jump?: Yes
Load a horse into a trailer?: Yes
Bridle a horse?: Yes
Saddle a horse?: Yes
Lead a horse?: Yes
Clean tack?: Yes.
Check for lameness?: Yes
Canter?: Yes
Groom a horse?: Yes
Prepare for a show?: Yes
Put on a winter blanket?: Yes
Mix your horse's feed?: Yes
Pull a mane?: Yes
Clip a horse?: Not body, at least.. not well
Braid a tail?: Actually no, because I can't french braid. I can kinda do a fishtail, but I wouldn't venture to do it for a show. Plus, tail braiding is out anyhow and I always thought it made tails look weird anyhow.
Start a foal?: I probably could, but I wouldn't trust myself, at least for the first one without guidance
Ride a bucking horse?: Yeah, thank you pretty much every horse we've ever owned at some point
Ride a rearing horse?: I've never had to deal with a real rearing fit, but they're not too hard, as long as it's not a hi-ho silver rear
Lunge a horse?: Yes
Compete in a showmanship class?: Yes, and I HATE IT
Compete in a trail class?: Yep. Hate that too.
(This section is slightly retarded.)

So, what do you do?

Ride trails?: Yep, especially when your mother is the TR QUEEN
Show?: Yes
Just ride for fun?: Yes
Pleasure?: Occasionally.
Dressage?: Never. I think it's boring, but I believe the fundamentals are good. Maybe to start Emma with some basics before we move to hunters though, if I get her.
Jumping?: Yes!
Equitation?: No, once upon a time, I did not look like an eq rider.
Horsemanship?: Once. It was a disaster.
Bareback?: Yeah, but I have a hard time getting on bareback, LOL. Damn short legs!
Speed/gaming?: Yep, for fun.
Cross country?: I've never done it and always wanted to try it.
Mounted shooting?: Same as above, mom wants to do it. It's really expensive though, the guns are like hundreds of dollars.
Battle reenacting?: No
Foxhunting?: No, would like to try.
Endurance?: I'd have to get an arab which I dislike immensely. And. I'd have to get in super shape to ride that long.
Roping?: No, I am a failure at throwing a rope.
Cutting: Always wanted to try.
Reining: Uh, my horse got third in the congress 3 year old futurity!
Bronc riding?: No desire, unless i'm on Cowboy U. I might try it then to win some monay.
Ride-and-tie?: What's that? Goat tying? I've done that..
Saddleseat?: Augh, no. Hate it, hate saddleseat horses.
Sidesaddle?: No. I've "pretended", but i've never actually ridden in one. Kinda wanna try that too.
Driving?: I've ridden in a cart, but i've never actually driven. Again, something I want to try. I'd really try anything with horses once, honestly.
Thoroughbred racing?: I've never done it personally, no. I've been to the track barns to look at OTTB's though!
Standardbred racing?: No, can't stand em, think they're ugly.
Another kind of racing (e.g. Quarter Horse)?: Never seen a QH race, but that's what my Ray Ray did!
Polo?: Another on the want to try list.
Polocrosse?: See above.
Vaulting?: I am not gymnastic in any way, yet, I so would love to try to stand on a horse like that. It'd be fun. Ala the Pee Wee movie, haha.
Leadline?: I'm a little old now. I've been the handler for LL though.
Halter?: Nah. It's like showmanship, aka super boring.
Showmanship?: Nooo
Lead-in trail?: No. I don't think this is popular with a riding horse...

Now for some random stuff!

How many years have you been riding: 12.. you asked already.
Is your horse shod?: Yeah, Ray has the worst feet EVER.
Do you know anything about natural horsemanship?: Somewhat. I don't really utilize it though. I think it's fun to watch, but all a big show.
What discipline have you not tried that you'd like to try?: Everything listed above that I said.
When was the last time you fell off?: Dallas. She bucked me off in... August? in a lineup. Oy.
Have you even fallen off before?: More than I can count.
Who was the first horse you ever rode in a lesson?: Babe!
How old was the oldest horse you've ever ridden?: I rode Caesar when he was late 30's early 40's I believe. He lived to 44.
What about the youngest horse?: 3, I think. Maybe a 2 year old, but I can't remember.
Have you ever handled a stallion?: Never really been around one that I had to take care of
What about a foal?: See above
What do you think about helmets?: I always ride in one. I once dented my helmet in a fall. It could have been my head.
Do you like giving your horse a bath?: Not really. You always end up soaked.
Is your horse really hot, really calm, or somewhere in the middle?: Somewhere in the middle.
Does your horse spook a lot?: Ray doesn't. He's like. Steady as hell.
Have you ever used your horse's tail brush on yourself?: I don't know. I think so.
Have you used one of those groomer stones?: Yeah, for bot eggs.
Have you ever ridden along a road?: Yeah
Have you ever ridden into a body of water?: Yep
Do you like grooming your horse?: Yep!
Do you like bathing your horse? Redundant!
Have you ever fallen off at a show?: Yeeppp
Do you like petting your horse's nose?: Yes, they're soft!
Has a horse ever fallen on you?: Dallas laid down on me once. It was not fun.

Have you ever ridden... ?

An Appaloosa?: Owned one.
A Quarter Horse?: Yep
A Thoroughbred?: Yep
A Mustang?: Yes, my first love, Rescue!
A pony?: Yes
A horse over 16 hands?: Yes
A Shire?: No
A Percheron?: No
A Clydesdale?: Yes
An American Saddlebred?: I don't think a registered one...
A Morgan?: Yes
An Arabian?: Yes. But I dislike them.

More random stuff!

Do you own a pair of breeches?: Yes
Have you ever walked without stirrups?: Yes
Trotted without stirrups?: Yes
Cantered without stirrups?: Yeah
Jumped without stirrups?: Yes. I don't enjoy it much.
Have you ever ridden without reins?: Yeah. Over jumps. Also. Not fun.
In your first lesson, were you put on a lunge line?: I don't think so.
Have you ever had a lesson on the lunge line?: Yeah. I kinda hate them.
Do you like psycho horses?: Not straight psychos, no.
Do you like sturdy, reliable horses?: Yes :)
Is your horse good about having his/her feet lifted?: Yeah, for the most part.
Is your horse's mane wild?: No, it's thin to start with, and it's probably long now anyhow.
Will your horse ground tie?: Not because I trained him to, LOL
What color is your saddle pad?: Right now, it's black with my name on it. But, I have a collection.
What color is your horse's halter?: Ray's is navy blue.
What color lead rope do you have?: Whatever one I steal from the barn to get Ray from the pasture.
Have you ever given your horse Gatorade (or something like that)?: I think. Ray eats/drinks most things.
Does your horse switch his tail and hit you?: Yeaah..
Have you ever been to a breed show?: Yes
Are you in 4-H or Pony Club?:I was in 4H, too old now.
What color is the manure fork that you use most often?: Purple
What kind of helmet do you have?: It's magenta for schooling, LOL. And I have black, and an IRH.
Do you prefer straw or felt hats?: Felt, for showing, but straw looks cute.
What color breeches do you like most?: Black
Have you ever won a belt buckle?: No. :( I so want to someday, which for english... i'll have to get into breed shows. Blah.
Do you ever carry a crop?: Usually, I always have one, even if it's not necessary because you never know when you'll need one.
Do you ever wear spurs?: Depends on the horse.
What color is the barn?: Wood colored.

So, Velcro doesn't hurt as much today. He needed to go. I've come to accept that. Plus, I cried the whole day yesterday, so i'm a bit cried out. I have a feeling my mom will make me cry when I go home this weekend though. If she cries, I cry. It's her maternal way. We'll both be watching a sad movie crying our eyes out. I cry at the drop of a hat these days it seems, and I think I get it from her. Maybe we'll just be too excited about Emma. Or she'll be too busy telling me why I -don't- need her. Still haven't heard back, unfortunately. Hopefully tomorrow or so. It's SO WARM, finally. But rainy, which sucks.

I didn't fail my ethics quiz that I thought I failed though! Got an 80%, which isn't bad, considering it was only 15 questions. It's worth like 17.5% of our grade though. Augh. I also got a 93% on my macro assignment, which is awesome. Hopefully we get our tests back tomorrow in recitation. I thought I did pretty well.

I so need to start my Scotland paper. It's due next Thursday and it's just looming. Augh.

Anyhow. That's all for now.

I don't know what to do. I can't stop crying. I told my family I thought he should be put down and they all agreed, said they'd put him down this week. It's all well and good, I don't think I could stand going. I'm one of those people who just breaks down. I can't go to viewings at funerals or anything like that... I couldn't stand to watch my cat die because I elected to make him. I'm sobbing as it is right now. What if he still wants to live? He came back from this last time. I went down and talked to him and he doesn't seem to be in horrible amounts of pain, just sleepy and somewhat out of it. What if he still wants to live? He certainly isn't ready to die, it seems to me. I don't know. But knowing tomorrow is the last day i'll ever see him is killing me. Absolutely killing me. It's silly to be so upset about a cat, but i've had him for seventeen years. He was my first pet ever. I love him so much, he's special because he's that number one spot.

I love you, Velcro.

So, life is just sort of hectic lately.

Went to go to Barnes and Noble today to get a book for a class. Back the saturn out of the garage and it slips and goes into a snow bank. Cue an hour and a half long bitch, push the car, and whine session from my parents. Because, apparently, I purposely put it in there. Finally, get the car out, drive to B&N, they don't have the book. I go next door to best buy and buy myself a DVD in consolation. I didn't need it, but hey.

Then, my cat, Velcro is dying. He's seventeen years old. He goes through brief stints where he won't eat, gets ridiculously thin, then recovers. Today I fed the pets to find him retching nothing up in basement, giving out piteous moans. I thought he needed to be put down, I wrapped him in a towel and held him, he started purring just like nothing was wrong... I don't think he wants to go yet, but he's piteous. He just gets thinner and thinner, but he's still wandering around (wobbly). I don't know. I think maybe he should be put down before we go to Colorado. We're putting him in a kennel, and I would never forgive myself if he died there. No one would pay any attention to him anyhow. He's emaciated, his eyes are weepy and disgusting.. he's just a mess, but at the same time, he's still got that spunk. I'm just torn. I guess the family will decide. I'd rather not go there with him when they put him down anyhow because it will tear me apart. He was my first ever pet, we got him from the humane society... I don't know. I don't know I don't know.

Here's the boy in a happier time.

I don't know.
So, lately, my life is just full of indecision.

School- Classes are alright. I don't really enjoy any of them immensely, but I do have to say it seems like this semester is flying by. Less that a month and it'll be spring break, and then about 6 weeks more and we're done. Hell yes I love getting out in April. Some people are only just starting back, which is so ridiculous, considering i'm a fourth done already, pretty much. I still have no clue what to do about next year, get a 1 bedroom or live at home and get a car. I've kind of given up on finding any roomates. I'm going to have to figure it out sometime, preferably by the time I schedule so I can either make all my classes together in one block or spread em out somewhat like I do now. Sigh. It sucks, regardless.

Internships- I'm waiting to hear back from Krome Communications. I finished their app copy test and sent it last night. Cross your fingers! It apparently pays, which is even sweeter. I really need something that pays for this summer, just to make money, especially if I get Emma.

Emma- She's kinda on standstill too. I e-mailed the owner and didn't get anything back, but it's been so damned frigid out it's just too cold to even contemplate going anywhere to ride her. Hopefully something happens with her. I hate waitng.

Anyhow. That's all I can think about at the moment. Woo.
